Exploring Australia, One Campsite at a Time.

 

We’re road-tripping across Australia in our 2024 Chevrolet 2500, complete with a rooftop tinny and towing our home - a Titanium S3 22ft rear club lounge caravan (also known as a centre bathroom layout). Our caravanning and camping lifestyle gives us the freedom to discover new destinations, enjoy free and low-cost camping, and stick to a budget whilst embracing the great outdoors. We’re sharing our journey, showcasing stunning travel spots and the realities of full-time caravan living. From campfire cooking and 4x4 adventures to fishing, photography, drone footage, hiking, and exploring - this lifestyle is all about experiencing everything Australia has to offer.

We are Deryck & Sue Howarth (and Bobby, our French Bulldog). We both grew up in East London, a small city in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. After each of us spending time in the UK, we returned home, met each other, and eight years later—after marrying and building a life together—we felt the pull for something new. In 2014, we moved to Brisbane, Australia, drawn by our love for the outdoors, fishing, boating, and camping.

In early 2019, the loss of a close friend prompted us to reflect deeply on life and our future. We began talking seriously about travelling around Australia and doing “The Big Lap.” With no children to tie us down, we decided—let’s go for it!​ We set a budget, searched for the right caravan and ute, and eventually found a well-kept second-hand van that felt just right for our two-year adventure. We stored it until we were ready, sold off furniture and non-sentimental items, and packed the rest away.​

Well, two years turned into six and we're on the fourth lap now! Yep, we've been exploring this incredible continent, filming our travels and building Deryck’s photography portfolio along the way. It’s not just about capturing memories—it’s about inspiring others to chase their own adventures.
